The Outer Coast – June 10
Day two began with a quick kayak trip to shore (video to come soon) to conduct a site survey. The forest service monitors the Wilderness in a number of ways and SCS has offered to help steward the Wilderness by surveying known and popular campsites as well as new ones. Although it seems obvious you can not build cabins or permanent residents in a Wilderness Area but these are found throughout and are removed each year. We spent time at a known old cabin site and after Adam was done with his survey we headed north to Yakobi island. It was another amazing day and we all sat outside bird watching and enjoying the incredible view.
The route north took us outside of the islands into the pacific where we could view the entire coastline of the Wilderness. It was an amazing view and I was able to capture a number of spectacular panoramas of the scene.
When we arrived at our destination for the evening we were greeted by one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. (See photo of the Day 2) Great trip so far!
